The agency is seeking a highly qualified candidates for the position of Dental Hygienist 3 within the Fulton County Board of Health in the Medical and Preventive Services. Job Responsibilities Under broad supervision, cleans teeth, and examines head, neck, and oral areas for signs of oral disease. May educate clients on oral hygiene, take and develop X-rays or apply fluoride or sealants. May serve as a lead worker. Ensure that the health history is updated for all returning patients by verbally reviewing the history with the patient, taking blood pressure and pulse, and performing an inspection of the patient’s head and neck. Remove calculus and stains from teeth by scaling and root planing. Participate in perio maintenance therapy with screening, probing, and maintenance visits directed by a doctor. Sharpen, bag, and sterilize instruments. Identify and select appropriate instruments to remove hard and soft deposits. Polish teeth and apply fluoride, varnish, and sealants. Select the appropriate polish technique and apply the appropriate fluoride. Etch teeth and apply sealants. Take and develop dental X-rays. Use a lead apron for patient protection; understand digital X-ray techniques; expose and process dental radiographs. Follow all infection control policies, Educate patients 0 Oral Hygiene instructions and participate in outreach activities Minimum Qualifications Associate degree in dental hygiene from an accredited college or university and current Georgia dental hygienist license and two (2) years of job-related experience; or one (1) year experience at the lower level Dental Hygienist 2 (HCT011) or position equivalent.
