Job Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Independent Practicing Dental Hygienist (IPDH) to join our team. We provide dental preventative and early disease intervention services by offering high quality patient-centered evidence-based care to people in rural Maine. Excellent communication skills are needed to ensure patient understanding, comfort, and satisfaction. A strong understanding of dental hygiene process of care that includes assessment, dental hygiene diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation is required. Responsibilities: Conduct thorough patient assessments identifying oral health needs. Provide various diagnostic services including radiographic imaging, comprehensive periodontal evaluation, and oral cancer screening identifying areas to be brought to the attention of a dentist. Develop a patient dental hygiene care plan and issue appropriate referrals. Provide a full measure of dental hygiene preventive care and early disease intervention services to each patient including but not limited to screening and fluoride application to prophylaxis and non-surgical periodontal therapy. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques and instruction, nutrition counseling, oral health products, process of decay, periodontal disease progression, and tobacco risks. Maintain accurate and detailed patient records. Utilize cloud-based software to manage patient data and schedule appointments. Collaborate both inter-professionally and with the dental team to ensure a smooth and efficient patient flow. Maintain a clean and organized dental environment, adhering to strict infection control standards. Provide compassionate care to all patient of all ages from all backgrounds. Remain current with advancements in dental technology and evidence-based best practice. Requirements: Current licensure as an Independent Practice Dental Hygienist in the State of Maine. Completion of a CODA accredited dental hygiene program. Confidence and knowledge of dental conditions and dental terminology Ability to work effectively in team environment and adapt accordingly based on patients needs Excellent interprofessional communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency and/or ability to master dental software systems. Familiarity with digital sensor and panoramic imaging. Leadership in infection control and aseptic technique. Ability to commute to Monson, Maine. **Pay scale based on education and experience.
