Duties & Responsibilities include: Greeting patients as they arrive Preparing the examination rooms by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all necessary equipment is ready for the doctor Untying and retying arch wires Taking complete patient records (able to use a 3D intraoral scanner, photos, models, x-rays, etc.) Updating and maintaining clientxe2x80x99s records, charts clinical examinations Scheduling patient appointments Advising patients on recommended oral hygiene What does an Orthodontic Assistant do? Orthodontic assistants help deliver patient care during orthodontic appointments. They educate patients on orthodontic treatment, provide instructions on oral hygiene care, take x-rays, use a 3D intraoral scanner, make models for appliances, ensure patients have clean examination rooms and that the doctor has clean instruments. Assistants promote positive patient experiences. Skills & Qualifications: Customer service skills to ensure patients feel comfortable during their appointment as well as well-informed about treatment and oral health and wellness Technical and troubleshooting skills to work with a variety of software in the office Organization skills enable these professionals to keep their workspace clean to ensure patients, the doctor, and other assistants are safe and healthy while working Knowledge of orthodontic instruments Strong teamwork Desire to grow and learn Accuracy, strong attention to detail, excellent multitasking and interpersonal communication skills. Even though X-ray certification is not required to be considered for the position, successful candidates will be required to complete x-ray certification within 12 months of hire. Previous dental or orthodontic assisting experience is preferred but not required.
