Hourly wage for a Surgical Assistant ranges from $20-25/hour dependent on education, experience, responsibilities and performance. Effective wage range for this position (base wage plus value of PTO, paid holidays, bonuses, benefits and more) extends up to $38/hour! About us AZPerio is looking for a qualified Surgical Assistant in the Valley to join our growing practice. The Surgical Assistant is an integral part of the team. Core responsibilities include assisting with checkups and surgical procedures related to gums, tissue, and bone as well as operating secondary and tertiary equipment and tools required for a given procedure. Position: Surgical Assistant The Surgical Assistant is a critical member of the AZPerio team that is responsible for assisting with surgeries under the supervision of the managing doctor at the respective locations in North Scottsdale and Paradise Valley. Minimum Requirements High School Graduate CPR certification, X-ray certification, and required OSHA certifications, which can be obtained following employment. Knowledge of basic dental terminology, infection control, and emergency response procedures. Excellent customer service, communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in computer and keyboarding. Primary Responsibilities Demonstrates knowledge and proficiency in all tasks and responsibilities in the surgical department and provides technical assistance when needed. Analyzes internal processes to recommend and implement procedural or policy changes to improve operations. Ensures that accountabilities for all clinical staff at their location are executed as expected. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned by clinical team leader. Demonstrates knowledge of, supports, and implements company mission, vision, value statements, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions and confidentiality standards. Any other relevant duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge and understanding of dental surgery and associated procedures, terminology, and techniques, including periodontal instruments and implant surgery. Knowledge of patient screening, charting and medical history procedures, and documentation. Knowledge of CPR and emergency procedures. Knowledge of all job responsibilities in the clinical department. Knowledge of office software, including DSN, Dexis and digital imaging software. Superior knowledge of operating systems. Knowledge of exceptional customer service standards. Active listening skills to give attention to what other people are saying, take time to understand the points being made, asking questions, as appropriate. Active learning skills to understand the implications of new information for both current and future problem solving and decision-making. Strong time management skills; the ability to multi-task and establish priorities, to manage onexe2x80x99s own time and the time of others for efficient flow of work in the clinical department. Monitoring skills to be able to assess performance of clinical staff and make recommendations.to the Managing Doctor for improvements and/or for corrective action. Instructing skills to train clinical assistants on procedures. Ability to perform all job responsibilities in the surgical department; to set priorities, motivates, and assists others on the clinical team. Ability to communicate effectively sensitive information, when speaking and/or writing, to respond quickly/ thoroughly to maximize customer satisfaction to common inquiries on dental procedures and/or complaints from patients and co-workers. Ability to multi-task; to organize, coordinate, and prioritize work efficiently and to work under stress, with interruptions and deadlines; to concentrate on a task over a period of time, without being distracted. Ability to read, listen to, and understand information and ideas presented verbally and/or in writing for input into the computer information system. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where broad standardization exists; to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong; to recognize and solve the problem. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form; to follow complex instructions and think logically in following procedures and instructions. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision on assigned tasks, as well as to accept direction on given assignments. Ability to maintain organization in a changing environment; maintaining a flexible attitude and approach towards assignments. Working Conditions Work is performed in an interior medical/clinical environment that is well-lit and clean. Moderate physical activity may be necessary. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 25 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day. Work environment involves some exposure to hazards and/or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
