Position Description Wake Technical Community College is seeking to expand our pool of part-time faculty to teach in our Dental Assisting Program. Openings for these positions may or may not be available at this time; however, after a review of qualifications, applicants may be contacted in the future. Adjunct faculty positions provide quality, effective instruction in assigned courses on a part-time, temporary basis and may be assigned to day or evening courses. Responsibilities and Duties (*Essential Functions) To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential job functions satisfactorily. Instructs and guides the class in an efficient and effective manner Maintains accurate records of student work and attendance Prepares thoroughly for each instructional hour Maintains a safe and orderly learning environment Grades and returns student work in a timely manner Counsels students regarding their grades and progress in the course Constructs classroom materials that support the goals of the course Designs curriculum and a schedule of instruction Uses assessment techniques to improve learning and teaching Maintains communication with instructors from other divisions in order to keep courses up-to-date and appropriate Remains up-to-date on technology and methods of teaching with technology Attends professional development opportunities when possible Qualifications Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Knowledge of American Dental Association accreditation process Knowledge of dental assisting clinic and equipment Knowledge of four-handed dentistry and ergonomics Knowledge of the current blood borne pathogen standard requirements regarding infection control and HazCom standards Clinical competence in the performance of Dental Assisting II skills as recognized by the North Carolina State Board of Dental Examiners Current CPR Certification Able to use a wide variety of teaching methods to promote learning Be innovative, creative, motivated Ability to exhibit good interpersonal skills and work well with others Able to maintain records accurately and be able to meet deadlines consistently Good organizational skills Knowledge of and facility with technology and software including, computers, and web-based resources such as BlackBoard. Able to perform normal duties with minimal supervision Excellent communication skills both written and verbal Demonstrates resourcefulness, initiative, enthusiasm, and a sincere interest in helping students reach their maximum potential Requirements: Graduate of an American Dental Association Accredited Dental Assisting Program Certified Dental Assistant (Current Status) from the Dental Assisting National Board Unofficial transcripts must be attached with your online application prior to submission or submitted to Human Resources immediately upon completing the application. Dental Assisting II Status according to the North Carolina State Board of Dental Examiners Must be eligible to Coronal Polish and obtain dental radiographs/images in the State of North Carolina according to the North Carolina State Board of Dental Examiners requirements CPR certified Three years of experience as a Chair-side Dental Assistant and or Clinical Dental Hygienist Training within the past 12 months for Bloodborne Pathogens and Hazcom Essential Personnel: TBD We Value a Diverse Workforce!
