Department: Pre-Doc 3rd Floor U.M. FDSP Associates is a non-profit affiliate of the University of Maryland School of Dentistry. U.M. FDSP Associates is the organization that provides patient care focused staffing for the clinic operations so that faculty and students may provide patient care to the general public. We offer paid vacation, sick leave, personal days, and 12 Federal paid holidays. Hours of operation are Monday thru Friday with no weekends. The Business Manager reports to the Senior Business Manager. The Business Manager supervises and leads the clinical operations by overseeing core business functions related to accounts receivable, payable, and purchases. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Manages central administrative functions in compliance with organization policy and principles of practice management. Oversees accounts receivable, collections and related business functions. May audit patient charts to ensure balances are accurate and charged correctly. Supervises staff, trains new personnel. Sets goals for employees and conducts annual performance evaluations. May serve as liaison to internal departments such as information technology, facilities management or environmental health and safety. Assigned to special projects such as IT project implementations, writing new procedures. Specific duties and responsibilities may vary based upon departmental needs. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelorxe2x80x99s degree in a related field and two years of experience in a fee for service operation. At least one year experience supervising and training employees. Additional experience may be substituted for some or all the education requirements. Excellent oral and written communications skills. A working knowledge of Excel and Word software. Knowledge of enterprise-wide computer applications. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES: Ability to independently perform specialized tasks following stated procedures. Skilled in applying basic analytical skills to problems where clear precedent may not exist. Thorough knowledge of and skilled in applying office practices and procedures, principles of office management and supervision. Skilled in planning and coordinating clerical work; in motivating and providing guidance and instruction to clerical personnel. Ability to interpret and apply departmental policies and procedures to everyday situations. Ability to establish and evaluate clerical methods and procedures; to negotiate resolution to scheduling and procedural problems; to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; to establish and maintain effective work relationships.
