This full-time, classified and overtime eligible position is part of the Allied Health team and reports to the Dean of Allied Health. The Dental Clinic Coordinator will support multiple faculty with the operation and management of the dental clinic, ensuring the proper, efficient and effective operation of the clinic as a training site for students. The incumbent works with the instructors during student learning/practice activities in the lab, pre-clinical, radiographic and clinical portions of the dental assistant program. The monthly range is $5,037 – $6,408 and salary placement is based on applicable past work experience. New hires may not be placed above step 10 ($6,179). Prof Tech Union employees receive a yearly degree stipend if they have an Associates degree $150, Bachelors $250, or a Masters $350. Key Responsibilities / Essential Functions Include Demonstrate multicultural competence (including an awareness and understanding of historically disadvantaged populations) and create an educational and work environment that affirms commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion. Provide leadership in working to improve access and successful education outcomes from diverse student populations especially underrepresented and underserved student populations. As a team member of two (2) instructors; performs clinic operations, including patient scheduling, reception office activities and chair side functions. Supervises and directs the students in the proper maintenance and operation of the equipment and the facility. Direct students in the receipt of money from patients, ensuring that all money collected is accounted for and submitted to the business office daily. Assists students in meeting pre-clinical, clinical and lab competencies. Supports student/faculty ratio during lab, pre-clinical and clinical activities. Establishes the abatement budget for the clinic and monitors the revenues and expenditures against the budget. Assists students and instructors in resolving patient complaints and related issues. Participates in recruiting Clinic Dentists and Hygienists as needed. Maintains the lab and clinic supplies and equipment inventory, ordering items as needed. Provides input into the development of the instructional program budget. Manage the Safety Data Sheets (SDS) files for the dental clinic. Assist and help student maintain patient records. Assist and help students and faculty in preparing pre-clinic, clinic and lab procedures. Organize and manage student rotations in clinical procedures. Supervise and facilitate facility clean up, stocking and organizing for two cohorts. Substitute for courses periodically. Perform other related tasks as assigned. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Demonstrated experience or participation with persons from diverse backgrounds such as sexual orientation, racial, ethnic, religious, linguistic, gender, age, socio-economic, physical and learning abilities, and a commitment to an inclusive and equitable working / learning environment. Completion of a nine (9) to twelve (12) month dental assistant training program; preferred to have or be working on a baccalaureate degree. Three (3) or more years of recent successful work experience as a dental assistant. Demonstrated successful dental office management experience. Experience in expanded functions as a registered dental assistant. Experience ordering supplies and maintaining appropriate inventory for school dental clinic. Proficiency with Dentrix and Dexus software is preferred. Ability to maintain confidentiality, think critically and exercise independent judgment required. Proficient experience with Microsoft Office 2010, specifically experience creating & editing documents, spreadsheets and presentations. Previous success learning new computer software programs/platforms required. Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team. Successful experience using tact, discretion and courtesy while interacting with all persons. Demonstrated attention to detail required as well as previous experience maintaining accurate records, managing multiple tasks and planning and organizing work in order to meet changing priorities and deadlines. Successful experience with diverse populations of varied ethnicity, ages, backgrounds and abilities and a commitment to a culturally diverse environment. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS, LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS: Dental Assistant National Board (DANB) certification. Current first aid/CPR card is required. Registered Dental Assistant WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is sedentary in nature and is performed in an office environment which is adequately heated and ventilated. Frequent use of computer and exposure to terminal screens in performing work assignments required.
