Overview:We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Dental Hygienist to join our team and work with us on a research study. The Mother’s Action Project for Child Health (MAPCH) is a 5-year research study on child health/oral health recently funded by the National Institute for Dental/Cranial Research. The project uses a Common Risk Factor Approachxe2x80x94addressing both pediatric caries and obesity risk by addressing common feeding and child/care behaviors that put children at risk for both conditions. The focus of the project is New York Cityxe2x80x99s South Asian communityxe2x80x94families from India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh. The project will recruit several hundred mother-child dyads to participate in the project. Half will be assigned to the 12-month intervention; half will be assigned to control/no treatment condition. We will be conducting research assessments at several time points. Dental exams will be performed twice over the course of the study. As a Dental Hygienist, you will play a vital role in providing quality dental care to our patients. We are seeking an experienced individual to fill the position of Research Hygienist on this project. The hygienist will provide pediatric dental assessments in the homes of our research participants. A research assistant speaking the local language and familiar with the community will accompany hygienists on research visits. The position is full time, with excellent benefits.
