VP Area U of U Health – Academics Department 01478 – SOD – EDUCATION Location Campus City Salt Lake City, UT Type of Recruitment External Posting Pay Rate Range $55,000 – $68,349 Close Date Open Until Filled No Job Summary The Oral Surgery Coordinator provides complex patient coordination, scheduling, and administrative support for the University of Utah School of Dentistry Oral Surgery section. This position will coordinate operating room procedures for the Oral Surgery section across various hospitals. Essential Functions Supporting patient operations with overall care coordination for patients seeking oral surgery care within an OR setting. Acting as a liaison between the Oral Surgery providers and patients in the coordination of their surgical care. Managing, prioritizing, and tracking referrals for Oral Surgery required in an OR setting. Ensuring that all related patient appointments for Oral Surgery in an OR setting are secured in a timely manner. Ensuring patients obtain all lab work and necessary medical clearance prior to surgery. Submitting case request orders for OR admission appointments. Answering phones, triaging calls for Oral Surgery Care, and following-up with patients pre and post-surgery. Coordinating with various hospitals for Oral Surgery scheduling within an OR setting. Ensuring proper billing and protocols are followed. Providing administrative support to the Oral Surgery department as assigned for all administrative and scheduling needs. Managing Oral Surgery provider calendars, schedules, and OR block times. Providing customer service support for patients related to Oral Surgery care. Acting to ensure clinic policies and processes are followed. Comments The staff member must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of life span growth and development and the ability to assess data regarding the patientxe2x80x99s status and provide care as described in the departmentxe2x80x99s policies and procedures manual. Minimum Qualifications Bachelorxe2x80x98s degree or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience) in public health, health education, health promotion, management, behavior science, social science, social work or nursing with 2 years relevant work experience or Medical Assistant with State of Utah, National Certification, or equivalency and 5 years of clinical experience. Demonstrated ability to lead as well as function effectively as a member of a team and successfully promote change. Strong analytical, organization and leadership skills. PC/Windows literate with working knowledge of the following Microsoft applications: Outlook, Word and Excel. Demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills. This is a patient-sensitive position. This position is patient-sensitive and must fulfill all associated requirements. Preferences Preferred Experience Working knowledge of quality improvement and project management methodologies, tools and techniques and principles of change management. Demonstrated ability to effectively facilitate and mentor project teams preferably using QI methods (i.e., PDSA ). Familiarity with electronic medical record ( EMR ) applications.
