Our team is growing in Sylva, NC, and offering a $500 signing bonus for Dental Assistant II to support our Pediatric Dentists in all aspects of dental care. Job Summary The Dental Assistant II is a vital member of the dental healthcare team who specializes in providing oral care. This role is to support dentists in delivering dental treatments and ensuring a comfortable and positive experience for our patients. Our work week is Monday-Thursday. Qualifications (Education, Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations) High school diploma or equivalent (1) completion of: ADA-accredited dental assisting program and current certification in CPR; or One academic year or longer in an ADA-accredited dental hygiene program, and current certification in CPR; OR (2) completion of the Dental Assistant certification examination(s) administered by the Dental Assisting National Board and current certification in CPR; OR (3) completion of: 3-hour course in sterilization and infection control; 3-hour course in dental office emergencies; and current certification in CPR. Full-time employment and experience as a chairside assistant for two years Radiography Requirements A certified dental assistant or an assistant who completes an ADA-accredited dental assisting or dental hygiene program may take radiographs without further examination. All others, including those who move to North Carolina from out-of-state, must successfully pass an equivalency exam. Responsibilities: Assists dentist in all phases of dental care, based on detailed knowledge of different dentists’ techniques and preferences. May assist with specialized dentistry, periodontal, surgery or prosthetics. Coronal polishing Takes, develops, and mounts x-rays. May perform complex or specialized radiography. Sets up and sterilizes exam rooms and equipment, in accordance with universal safety precautions and other safety standards. Escort patients to the business area for financial follow-ups and re-scheduling. Adequately summarize treatment provided and next steps to the front office staff. May order and stock supplies and maintain equipment. Restock all treatment rooms and other clinical support areas. May instruct patients in proper oral health techniques. Answers inquiries from patients (faculty, students, and staff) related to clinic administrative functions, and schedules appointments. May perform initial assessment of incoming patients. May maintain and prepare dental records and reports. Performs related duties as required.
