The Oral Radiology Department is responsible for taking oral radiographs for School of Dentistry patients as well as educating the students as to the proper technique for radiographic imaging for diagnostic purposes. Reporting to the Clinic Manager, under general supervision and in addition to the duties performed by Registered Dental Assistants, the incumbent is assigned continuing responsibility to assist members of the dental faculty in the training and evaluation of dental students in the Radiology techniques as follows: the RDA trains students in the proper utilization of different levels of dental assistants; instructs students in the performance of basic supportive procedures; and consults with faculty members in the evaluation of student progress. We provide comprehensive oral health care services with over 120,000 patient visits per year. We offer a four-year DDS program as well as a two-year program for international dentists that culminates in the DDS degree. We have numerous specialty residencies, PhD and masterxe2x80x99s degree programs in Oral and Craniofacial Sciences, a combined DDS-PhD program, and a combined PhD-dental specialty training program. Other graduate programs include Craniofacial and Mesenchymal Biology and Bioengineering, and a DDS/MBA program. Required Qualifications A High School Diploma or equivalent. Must be licensed Registered Dental Assistant in the State of California. One year of experience as a Registered Dental Assistant Must have a current BLS CPR Certification. Must have a Radiation Safety Certification or completion of a radiation safety course approved. Current RDA License Radiation safety requirement Infection Control/Sterilization Certificate Current CPR Certification Must possess the skills necessary to perform duties as per State of California licensing guidelines. Must be familiar with dental terminology, materials, medications and instruments used during dental procedures. Must possess knowledge of infection control policies and procedures Experience with digital radiographic imaging and CBCT imaging. Familiarity with new technology in digital imaging. Excellent communications and technical skills. Knowledge of HIPAA and Confidentiality. Demonstrated computer skills (Windows, MS Word, Excel, knowledge of Axium and EPIC a plus).
