Job Title: Orthodontic Dental Assistant Location: Melrose, MA Job Type: [Full-Time/Part-Time] About Us: Melrose Orthodontics is seeking a dedicated and experienced Orthodontic Dental Assistant to join our dynamic team and contribute to the success of our practice. Ideal candidate is excited about the field of dentistry and willing to learn new skills. Responsibilities: Patient Care: Prepare patients for orthodontic procedures and assist the orthodontist during treatments. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices and care for orthodontic appliances. Chairside Assistance: Set up and maintain treatment rooms for orthodontic procedures. Assist the orthodontist by providing necessary instruments and materials during treatments. Complete orthodontic adjustment appointments with accuracy and detail as directed by the orthodontist. Appliance Management: Fit, adjust, and remove orthodontic appliances. Instruct patients on the correct care and maintenance of braces, retainers, and other devices. Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including treatment plans and progress notes. Document changes in patient conditions and treatment plans. Sterilization and Infection Control: Strictly adhere to sterilization and infection control protocols. Ensure proper sterilization and maintenance of instruments and equipment. Scheduling and Administrative Tasks: Schedule appointments for patients and manage the clinical calendar. Communication: Communicate effectively with patients, parents, and team members. Relay instructions from the orthodontist to patients regarding treatment plans and post-care. Continuing Education: Stay updated on the latest orthodontic techniques, procedures, and technologies. Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities. Qualifications: Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) preferred; Massachusetts Registered Dental Assistant required Previous experience in an orthodontic setting is preferred. Knowledge of orthodontic procedures, instruments, and materials. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
